  • “He has a great voice, but IMHO he should stick to singing songs that he has written – they have so much more depth and character. This is an album of meaningless babble. (Rated 2 out of 5)”

  • Great songs from history – but not the kind of stuff that makes Don himself! (Rated 1 out of 5)

  • “I&#39ve had this album for about three years and I love it. Don&#39s “”Sittin&#39 in the Balcony”” invokes a Fifties innocence, his “”If I Only Had A Match”” is (how&#39s this for a bad joke?) matchless, “”Somebody Loves Me,”” all give you that good feeling…to each his own, but I think anyone who gives this a listen will be glad they did. There are a lot of other great songs here, too, and I&#39m glad Don shows us another side of his talents. (Rated 5 out of 5)”

  • “I heard this album not so long ago,and I like the first song very much. And “”someone to watch over me””give me a different feeling concerning his voice.I think everybody would like to listen to this album. (Rated 4 out of 5)”

  • “I&#39m quite appreciate Don&#39s voice, and I can feel his emotion and attitude to those songs. And I think you&#39d like this
album when you listen to it. (Rated 5 out of 5)”

  • “Had the 89 album but stupidly
gave it to an ex girlfriend and now trying to locate a source.
The album cover does not match the CD I had. Still looking to buy.

  • “I was lucky enough to recieve this CD as a present from my husband after a rare business trip to the states just before the birth of my second child. So emotions are high when you&#39re carrying a child but they still are now when I listen to this CD.
The immense richness of Dons voice shines throughout this CD the obvious love of these songs that he grew up with and has passed on to us .He says in the liner notes they had a ball recording it well it shows.I certainly would not have listened to these type of songs before but I&#39m smitten.
“”Stardust”” has just got to be the best especially when I&#39ve heard him sing it live it&#39s breath taking.
Keep on singing Don and ignore all these people who want you just to sing your own songs you have done a fantastic job with these. (Rated 5 out of 5)”

  • “I never owned an album by Don McLean prior to this one, so other than my experiences with “”American Pie”” on the radio, this is my baseline appreciation for Don McLean. This is a brilliant album, well-crafted & tastefully produced. (Rated 5 out of 5)”

  • I wish I could find this album. Been searching for over a decade, which will make it even more special when I finally do.
